Revising phase 2 of TAWLC!

We had a phone meeting today and decided to change the angle of this phase of TAWLC. We are both struggling with our motivation and need the competition aspect. So we have decided to start competing again. We agreed on the following:

  • Date for settling the score next time: July 1, 2005
  • Svens goal: to reach 100 kgs
  • Roffes goal: to reach 125 kgs

The rules are as follows:

  • The first one to reach his goal before July 1, 2005 wins
  • If noone reaches the goal, the winner by July 1, 2005 will be the one closest to his goal in percent

And thats about it. We have not decided on the prize yet. We are open for suggestions from our readers.

0715: 2 waffles. Last time I give in for the urge on a weekday. I SWEAR.
1015: 2 slices of whole grain bread. 1 with mackerel in tomato sauce and 1 roffe special.
1300: 1 whole grain baguette with ham, cheese, lettuce, cucumber and tomato.
1630: 2 potatoes with gravy and a great bunch of salad. Had some raindeer meat in the gravy, but it was a bit chewy and I don’t like chewy meat. So I ate just potatoes and salad. Pretty good still.
2015: 150 grams of turkey meatballs, 26 grams of milk chocolate and a big carrot. I bought the meat balls in the store by the bus stop on my way home from the gym. It was the most protein rich food I could find.

As I said I managed to get to the gym and get an EXTREMELY hard workout. It felt very good. I have decided to work out every other day the next couple of weeks. I have to get it into a routine. It has been too easy to skip workouts lately.

I hereby declare a war on all of my excess fat.

This just doesn’t work!

Last week is an example of what not to do, I think. I didn’t work out, I ate just plain wrong and my motivation was missing in action. I didn’t even walk the dog very much. The scale showed 151,2 today. Extremely unhappy about that, but it was expected, so I guess I don’t get depressed by it. It motivates me to get on track again.

My action plan from now on is:

- Small meals with loads of fruits and vegetables
- blog every little crumb I eat
- Work out at the gym three times a week NO MATTER WHAT
- At least 45 minutes hard, sweaty walk with the dog every day.

I miss the activity I had in my weightloss project four years ago. I had people commenting on things every day. I miss the good old days.

Should have blogged more, but…

I have a lot on my heart to write about tonight. I have brought my computer to bed to blog, but my wife refuses to go to sleep unless I snuggle her, so I cannot write anything more than this. Good night. ;)

Bad, bad week!

This has been a bad week tawlc wise. I totally forgot to take notes of fridays diet and do not remember anything I ate. I don’t think it was too bad. Friday night and saturday I ate way to much candy. Not good either. Today I have not eaten any particular meal at all, but heres the list of what has disappeared down my piehole:

- 3 turkey hotdogs with ketchup and mustard
- 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream
- 3 roffe specials

Not too bad today, I guess, but I am not looking forward to stepping on the scale tomorrow. I thinke I am up again. Haven’t been working out this week either, due to a hurting back and a sore throat. I should and could have gone to work out today, but the 50 km in the cross country world championship was on TV and my workout mate was unable to show today. On sundays I depend on him to get to the gym because it closes almost before my first bus to the gym goes.

Well.. this was todays confession. I feel bad about this week. I haven’t deserved anything else but a weight gain of a kilo or two this week and I am pretty sure I will get what I deserve.

Ubuntu, pretty incredibly cool.

I love the linux operating system. Linux comes in a lot of different flavours and it has been a “hobby” of mine to try as many of them as possible. I have now found home. Ubuntu linux is sweet. I have never gotten all the hardware on my laptop, an IBM a31/p to work with any of the linux distributions, but with ubuntu linux everything has worked right out of the box.

To sum up what has worked here that has been problematic in other distros:

  • bluetooth (file exchange with cell phone and use the phone as modem)
  • wlan
  • power management (CPU Stepping, suspend to ram and hibernate)

These are, in my opinion, an absolute must on laptops as long as they are built in. Actually all built-in hardware in a computer should work 100% in the operating system. Ubuntu is the first distro I have managed to accomplish this in. Therefore I will stick with this distribution for a while.

On a less nerdy plane, Charlottes fever has disappeared, but she is still not well. Her eyes are wet, her nose is stuffed, she eats very little and sleeps all the time. My poor little girl is not well yet. I hope she will recover soon. It hurts me to see her like this. If she’s not better tomorrow I will take her to the doctor. A normal cold should have been over now, I think.

I logged in to my net bank to check if I could afford to buy dinner in addition to bread today and the balance made me very happy. The social security office made a mistake calculating my paternity leave, so we have gotten 4000 NOK less then we should have, and today they had corrected the mistake and repaid what we didn’t get the last two months. Finally we can afford buying diapers, formula and other luxuries again. Feels good.

Found the reason for my back pains. I have been carrying Charlotte in a harness on my chest all day the last week. In other words I have been using muscles i am not used to. So I guess and hope it will go away before sunday so that I get to work out again. Maybe I will go to the gym tomorrow too if my back gets better.

Here’s todays menu, by the way. A lot better than yesterday, but still not as good as it should:

1000: 4 slices of bread with cheese.

1300: 225 grams of strawberries with no added sugar.

1700: 3 burgers (biff-karbonader) with 3 small potatoes and a sallad of 5 different kinds of lettuce and cabbage.

2000: 1 carrot.

My back hurts!

My back hurts these days. I think it’s a muscular pain, but it still hurts and my mobility is limited. I don’t like to cancel trips to the gym, but if the back (and throat) pains don’t go away I will have to cancel tomorrow too.

Anyways, here is todays lousy menu:

1030: 2 slices of bread with turkey meatloaf.

1430: 5 waffles

1800: 2 slices of bread with cheese, ham and cucumber.

2130: 2 slices of bread with hamburgers and cheese.
